Intergenerational Healing
Do you see patterns repeating through your family and family history.?
Dr. Peter Levine founder of Somatic Experiencing , Dr. Diane Poole Heller SEP and founder of the powerful, proven and pragmatic DARe approach (Dynamic Attachment Repatterning experience), and Euphrasia Nyaki SEP Family Constellation healing
Euphrasia sums up Generational healing with this " Ben Hellinger (creator of Family Constellation Healing) observed that many people unconsciously take on destructive family patterns of anxiety, depression, anger, guilty guilt, loneliness, alcoholism, and even illness as a way of belonging in their families. When we observe, I know people will say, yeah, my mother was a very anxious person. I say, uh huh. So how about you? Can we now look at your body that is present here? Now, this is why the whole question of present here, who is present here? It's you with me as a therapist. So can we let your mother rest a little bit and begin to look at your anxiety? So you know what? Actually, I'mrealizing that it's not mine, it's my mother's. Can we honor her for who she is and give her back her anxiety and be free from it? Sometimes it can be as easy as that."
We might even feel sometimes we carry family "curses" (Teresa's phrasing) of the heaviness of family trauma AND resilience goes back five generations (Levine, Trans-generational Healing 9/2024) What would it be like to no longer carry that in your life and body anymore? It's not only possible it has happened in client's I worked with!
